    Default Signature images not embedding in Outlook

    My setup is :
    Zimbra Network Edition 8.0.7 Patch 8.0.7_P1
    Outlook Connector 8.0.7.1146
    Outlook 2013
    Windows 7 64-bit

    I am trying to setup a signature with an image. The image should be embedded and sent with the e-mail message. I use the Zimbra Web Client to setup the signature and add the image using the Insert Image button. Then when I send a new e-mail from the web client it works correctly. The image gets embedded into the e-mail message and displays correctly for the recipient.

    Now, in Outlook I go to File->Options->Mail->Signatures and then choose the signature that I created in Zimbra Web Client as the signatures that should be used in new e-mails and also in replies and forwards. I click OK->OK. I then click New Email and the signature with the image displays correctly in the new message dialog. I then send it off to some recipient. At the recipient the signature gets displayed, but without any image. When I look at the HTML source of the e-mail message it shows that the image is referenced by a path on the computer where I sent the e-mail from. Obviously it would not be accessible to anyone else like that.
    Code:
    <img width=3D627 height=3D217 id=3D"_x0000_i1025" src=3D"file:///C:\Users\Edrean\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Signatures\ougrote_files\Image001.png">
    When sent through Zimbra Web Client it looks like this :
    Code:
    <img src="cid:a80ef3f0d9b751d206ae01dc946ff4c21ffe3abb@zimbra" data-mce-src="/home/edrean@allesbeste.com/Briefcase/EmailBannerMaluma.png" doc="Briefcase/EmailBannerMaluma.png">
    When I create the new signature in Outlook from scratch it will correctly embed the signature image, but after an indeterminate amount of time it will eventually go back to using the image reference like above by itself.

    Does anyone have any idea how to get Outlook to always embed signature images in e-mails when using the Zimbra Outlook Connector?

    Hi,

    The <img> tag you posted above

    <img width=3D627 height=3D217 id=3D"_x0000_i1025" src=3D"file:///C:\Users\Edrean\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Signatur es\ougrote_files\Image001.png">

    contains some strange characters. Note how every "=" is followed by "3D".

    I've raised https://bugzilla.zimbra.com/show_bug.cgi?id=95112 to track this.

    Please could you visit that bug and attach a ZCO log?

    The log needs to span the time period when the signature is synced from ZWC to ZCO.

    Many thanks

    Hi dcb!

    Thanks for your reply.

    However, what you have noticed is simply quoted-printable encoding of the HTML. Earlier in die e-mail source is the line that specifies it :
    Code:
    Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable
    Of course, quoted-printable encoding uses "=" as an escape character to indicate that the characters that follow will be the hex value of a character. This means that whenever the character "=" needs to be printed a sequence of =3D is required (3D hex is the ASCII value for "="). A WikiPedia article on quoted-printable. So what you have noticed is quite normal.

    My real issue is, why is it not embedding the image into the e-mail? Instead it is just inserting an <img src> tag that references a location on my local drive. This will never produce an image to anyone that receives the e-mail remotely.
