[SOLVED] Palm Pre issues
I have a user that recently purchased a Palm Pre. I went over and set it up, which was very smooth, but then I found out that it can receive but not send emails. I have attempted to change the outgoing server information as we have on other phones SSL Port 25, but nothing works. Is there anything new with Palm Pre that I'm not aware of?

Will the 5.0.18 fix the problem? I saw that on other posts, admins had to install a cert to the server. We haven't had to do that before, but could without any issues. If it is the cert, why would it receive but not send?

Isn't the SMTP SSL port on 465 and not 25. So that may be a problem.
Why don't you just use activesync if you have the mobile add-on for NE?
All the posts were reference to Activesync, and not POP3/IMAP SMTP like you're trying to setup. If you use Activesync you're user will get Calendar, Contact, and Push email. It's a much better solution than IMAP/POP3 - SMTP

Correct on that. I think if you're going to use SSL SMTP you're going to need to open TCP/465 on your firewall. If you have the mobile add-on it's a shame you're not using it. It would really be the way to go. I assume you're also not giving your users webmail access if you have port 443 closed as well. I guess I don't see why you would have POP3(s) or IMAP(s) open, but not HTTPS.
I'll try with port 465 open. IMAP worked on his phone before. I would prefer to have HTTPS open...
Do you know of any security issues with having HTTPS open? It is closed now because we are a financial institution and have to be over cautious with security.
I understand, I used to work for one of the top 5 largest banks in the US. I personally would rather have HTTPS open vs. POP3 or IMAP. I hope that you're using POP3S or IMAPS ports 993 and/or 995 and not the unencrypted POP3/IMAP as you don't want passwords going across the internet in clear-text.
