    Default Syncing tasks with Blackberry

    Hi all,

Is there any way to sync Blackberry tasks with Zimbra? If yes, where can they be found in the web interface?

    Thanks very much!

Default Syncing Blackberry Tasks with Zimbra

Are you interested in OTA or cradle sync? If you want cradle sync, and you have the Zimbra Connector for Outlook, this can be done using the BlackBerry Desktop Manager and a Zimbra Outlook profile. See our Wiki page at

OTA blackberry device support will be available in a future release of ZCS.
The plan is to support mail, contacts, calendar and tasks for devices that are provisioned against a BlackBerry Enterprise Server.

Hate to break-in, but I'm not sure I understand this last post. We have MS Exchange and a BES on MS SBS. We're looking at Zimbra as a replacement because we're moving to Ubuntu.

But are you saying we'll need to retain a Windows machine to host the BES since RIM doesn't support Linux? And doesn't the BES provision users from Exchange's GAL?

Apologies in advance if I'm mistaken.

    Default BES against Zimbra

yeah...you'll still need a windows box to run BES. once the Zimbra BES product is installed on that machine, you will be able to provision users against the Zimbra GAL through the standard BES management applications.

Ouch. So does that mean RIM BES licensing still applies? Any word if the Zimbra BES plugin is going to be an additional cost then or just additional functionality? (I just found this thread so forgive my ignorance.)

yes...BES licensing will still apply. i can't really comment on the price of our BES product because i don't know. it could be bundled into a network offering or it could be a stand alone thing.

FYI, RIM offers BES Express which is a free small business version of BES and includes 1 user license at no cost. It supports up to 15 users at an additional cost per user.
